Ben Murrie serves as the Director of Contracts and Client Relations for Catharsis Productions, a Chicago-based company that uses research and accessibility to reduce oppressive attitudes and change behavior surrounding sexual violence and discrimination. In this role, he coordinates, schedules, and maintains the integrity of more than 2,000 annual presentations at colleges, universities, and military installations. He has co-developed and delivered a Bystander Intervention Training Support Package for the U.S. Army SHARP Academy, a hegemonic masculinity training for U.S. Marine Corps Headquarters Training and Education Command, and a male victimization training for U.S. Navy leadership, and a corporate sexual harassment prevention program. Ben has been a keynote and featured speaker at various National and International U.S. Military conferences, the National Sexual Assault Conference, the National Conference on Sexual Assault in our Schools, the Advocacy in Action Conference, the End Violence Against Women International Annual Conference, and the Cook County (Chicago) State’s Attorney’s Office. Ben also sits on the Illinois State Men Endorsing Non-Violence Committee with which he developed a pilot program at the University of Illinois – Chicago to encourage men to end sexual violence on their campus. Ben has represented Catharsis on NPR’s “To the Point”, in the Chicago Tribune, and on TIME.com. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Pepperdine University and a M.S. in Educational Psychology from Oklahoma State University.
