Introduction to the SAFeR Approach to DV-Informed Decision Making

Introduction to the SAFeR Approach to DV-Informed Decision Making, Room: Oklahoma I

Thursday - September 13, 2018: 1:30 p.m. - 3 p.m.

Legal and allied professionals generally agree that domestic violence comes in many different shapes and sizes and affects families in many and varied ways. They also agree that one-size-fits-all solutions can lead to over-restrictive or under-protective outcomes that fail to address the specific circumstances of domestic violence within families. The challenge comes in differentiating the nature, context, and effects of abuse – and accounting for those differences in legal responses. This workshop introduces the SAFeR approach to DV-informed decision-making, along with practical tools to implement it in various legal settings.
