Don’t Buy It – People Are Not Products, Men Are More than Consumers, Room: Oklahoma I

Wednesday - September 12, 2018: 1:30 p.m. - 3 p.m.

Studies reveal that sex trafficking is prevalent across the U.S.  Victims are often first exploited by the age of 13, and most purchasers are men. Survivors and advocates continue to work tirelessly to help victims and raise awareness of sex trafficking and other forms of commercial sexual exploitation. However, absent across the country are efforts to reshape the “normal” culture that allows men to remain silent, if not actively participate in sexual exploitation. Men As Peacemakers (MAP) has created strategic messaging, educational resources, and organizing that move us towards a new normal of equity and safety where the demand for commercial sex is nonexistent.  This workshop, will provide on the Don’t Buy It Project, resources and information on how to become an effective ally.
